Daniel Bentham serves as senior vice president, energy for EMEA at Vantage Data Centers. In this role, he spearheads the development and execution of the company’s energy strategy across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, including sourcing, infrastructure generation, procurement and supply. He brings extensive experience in M&A, sustainable project financing, policy development and scaling clean technology businesses globally to his role at Vantage.
With more than 20 years of expertise in the energy and renewables markets, Bentham has demonstrated exceptional leadership and technical acumen in an array of sustainable energy fields, including low-carbon technologies, renewable energy and energy storage. Prior to joining Vantage, Bentham served as chief operating officer for EO Charging, a British company providing technology-enabled charging infrastructure for electric vehicle fleets. Earlier in his career, he held executive roles in both public and private-equity-backed companies, including a decade of service at EDF Energy where he led R&D for technologies to be used in smart cities, grids and industrial energy solutions and managed B2B energy service delivery projects.
With a foundation in engineering, Bentham has led and worked on several large-scale energy-related projects at several companies, including launching a pan-European electric vehicle infrastructure platform under Macquarie Green Investment Group and developing the UK’s largest public EV charging network at Shell Group’s ubitricity UK company.
Bentham holds an MEng in material science and engineering from the University of Leeds and an executive master’s in finance from INSEAD. He also holds a CEng in energy. Bentham has contributed to shaping global energy standards as a member of BSI’s technical committees focused on smart cities and aspects impacting the electricity system.
