As chief operating officer, EMEA at Vantage Data Centers, Michael Fränkle leads operations, reliability engineering and customer experience across the company’s data center footprint in Europe and Africa. He drives initiatives to improve operational performance, accelerate innovation and strengthen service delivery, ensuring solutions are aligned to customer requirements and the regional platform operates with consistent, high-quality reliability.
Fränkle, with more than 25 years of experience in digital infrastructure and telecommunications, is recognized for guiding major operational changes. His experience includes modernizing national mobile and fixed networks, scaling fiber and 5G platforms, and running mission-critical operations with full P&L accountability.
Prior to joining Vantage, Fränkle served as chief technology, information and operations officer and executive board member at Tele Columbus, where he led the transformation of operations and IT, advanced fiber expansion, and executed a comprehensive platform and organizational restructuring.
Before that, he served as CTO and executive vice president at TDC Group and TDC NET, where he was responsible for network strategy, deployment and operations, including a nationwide mobile network transformation and early 5G rollout. Earlier, as CTIO and managing director at M-net Telekommunikations, he drove fiber expansion and end-to-end technology and IT transformation.
In addition, Fränkle spent more than a decade at Telefónica Germany in various senior leadership roles, where he led large-scale network rollouts, integration programs and strategic transformation initiatives.
Fränkle holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from TU Darmstadt and has completed executive development programs at IMD Lausanne, the University of St. Gallen and Singularity University.
